It just happened that I got this YouTube link earlier today from my dear friend Vlada, an accomplished bass player, with whom I played in a jazz trio (appropriately titled “Trio Rio”) back in the day. We share love for The Golden Era of Jazz, so it was not a surprise that the video features two of the music greatest: phenomenal guitarist Django Reinhardt and equally talented violinist  Stephane Grappelli.

In the times when the computer-based music productions rules, and often brings technically perfect and yet uninspired, lifeless pieces that, to my ears, hardly deserve to be called music, hearing something like this is so refreshing.

Sit back, close your eyes, and let these legends take you to that wonderful place of amazing, inspiring music. Forget for a second about the HD sound, pitch-correction tools and other gizmos. Just listen to these people making timeless music the old-fashioned way: actually playing their instruments in masterful way.
